This week Barefoot Investments has launched it’s Growing Good initiative, a way to recruit from sections of emerging economy communities who would usually be unable to benefit from government funded education or vocational training.
Many of these individuals come from underprivileged backgrounds or are responsible for older members of their families, or their own young children. Opportunities for education are rarely available due to a lack of finance, time or eligibility for strict government or charitable help. Despite poor formal education or training, many individuals are both resourceful and knowledgeable in a way that benefits our eco-tourism investments.
Our Growing Good initiative seeks to match suitable individuals to entry-level positions that include a fair salary, good working conditions, vocational training and a management mentor. Our aim is to help these people grow into accomplished professionals, giving them the opportunity to gain education and training, whilst we provide them with the support they need to meet their personal committments. The company benefits from a broader intake of skills and personalities, perfectly suited to our idea of a valuable, diverse community.
